Visualization of proteins with fluorescent proteins

bse03

The proteins in living cells are visualized by expression of their genes fused with GFP. Fibroblasts usually adfere to the substrate by forming actin stress fibers (red) and microtubles (green), and in response to the external stimuli they move reorganizing the actin-cytoskeleton (red) in the lamellipodia with microspikes (s,d) induced by WASP (Wiskott-Aldrech Syndrome Protein) (green by GFP (b,c) and antibody-coated immuno-gold particles (d, arrowheads) in electron micrograph).
